Poodle wearing a blind dogs halo
Dog Halo for Blind Dogs

Blind dog halo harness designed to help protect blind dogs from bumping into walls and furniture.

A blind dog halo helps protect dogs from bumping into walls, furniture, and other obstacles by creating a gentle point of contact through the ring, without impact. This lightweight halo harness is designed for blind and low-vision dogs who need more confidence moving around the home and outdoors.

What is a Blind Dog Halo?

A blind dog halo is a mobility aid for dogs with vision loss. The halo attaches to a harness and places a protective ring in front of the dog's head, helping them sense walls and other obstacles ahead without getting hurt. By alerting dogs to obstacles without painful collisions, it helps them move more safely and confidently in their surroundings.

How our Blind Dog Halo works

Our Blind Dog Halo is designed to keep the protective ring stable and in place as your dog moves or bumps into obstacles. The harness is securely fastened around your dog with a buckle closure, which helps prevent shifting and keeps the halo aligned in front of your dog's head. Unlike other halo harnesses that are heavier and rely on velcro straps, our Blind Dog Halo combines a lightweight EVA foam ring with a buckle closure for a secure, stable fit.

Please note: The color of the foam ring may vary from the product images, depending on availability.

  1. Ultra-lightweight EVA foam

The ring is made of ultra-lightweight EVA foam material, so your dog can move around freely without feeling weighed down.

  2. Buckle closure, no Velcro straps

The buckle closure keeps the harness stable and the halo in position, allowing your dog to explore their surroundings safely. The harness is designed to prevent the halo from shifting out of place as your dog moves.

  3. A flexible, adjustable ring

The flexible foam ring can be cut to the length your dog needs.

  4. A breathable, comfortable harness

Breathable fabric and padded straps help keep your dog comfortable while wearing the harness.

  5. A D-ring for your leash

Attach your dog’s leash directly to the D-ring on the harness when needed.

  6. Easy to put on and adjust

Slip the harness on, fasten the buckle, and adjust the straps for the perfect fit.

  7. Does not affect your dog’s basic activities

Your dog can continue eating, drinking, and sleeping while wearing the halo. The design allows room for these regular activities without having to remove the harness.

Chest and chest-to-nose distance

Dog measuring guide: tape around the chest behind the front legs, and a horizontal line from chest to nose

01 · Measure the chest

Wrap a soft measuring tape all the way around the widest part of your dog’s chest, just behind the front legs. Keep the tape flat against the body without pulling it tight, and read the measurement where the tape meets.

02 · Measure from chest to nose

Have your dog stand naturally with their head facing forward. Hold one end of the tape at the chest/harness position marked in the illustration, then extend it forward to the tip of the nose. Keep the tape straight between those two points and read the distance.

What our customers are saying

Thank you for designing this with a buckle and not Velcro. My dog has a bounce of confidence in his step knowing he won’t bump in to objects. He is happier on his walks. This halo has helped him enjoy his life. Thank you.

Great product, even the vet was impressed. My dog lost both eyes two weeks ago and already she can walk off-leash with this harness. Amazing how fast she learned to "see" the obstacles through the harness.

Lauren

It's great, my dog is getting used to it quickly and she no longer bump head first in the walls or door frame. It seem pretty sturdy so far, she's an americain staff and she didnt break it yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my dog to adapt to the halo?

Every dog adjusts at their own pace, but many get the hang of the halo quickly. Once the ring makes contact with a wall or furniture, your dog can begin to understand that it’s a signal to change direction. As they learn how the halo helps them find their way around, they can become more confident exploring their surroundings.

Can I leave the halo on my dog when they’re home alone?

We recommend using the halo while someone is there to supervise your dog. We also recommend removing the halo before placing your dog in a crate. Before leaving your dog home alone, remove the harness and leave them in a safe, familiar space.

Can my dog sleep and eat with the halo on?

Yes. The halo is designed to allow your dog to eat, drink, sleep, and continue their regular activities while wearing it, so they can enjoy their familiar routines.

Can I put the harness over a coat?

Yes. Simply adjust the straps to make room for your dog’s coat, so they can wear the halo while staying warm and comfortable.

What should I do if the harness shifts around?

Readjust the straps for a snug fit, then fasten the buckle securely. This should be enough to stabilize the harness and keep the halo in position. If the harness is still a little too big on your dog, try having them wear a T-shirt or sweater underneath for a closer fit.

How do I get my dog accustomed to the harness?

Let your dog sniff the harness before putting it on, offering treats and praise to make the introduction a positive experience. Then gently encourage your dog to walk toward a couch so the halo can make contact with it. When your dog changes direction to move around the obstacle, reward them with a treat and praise. This helps them connect the halo’s contact with finding another way around.

Can my dog climb the stairs with the halo on?

Some dogs can learn to climb stairs while wearing a halo. It may take a little practice to learn how to hold their head so the ring clears the steps. Introduce the stairs one step at a time, staying close to guide your dog and offering praise as they become more confident.

Can I attach a leash to the halo?

Yes. The harness has a built-in D-ring where you can attach your dog’s leash for walks.

Can I adjust the size of the halo?

Yes. The flexible foam ring can be shortened to the length your dog needs. Measure the adjustment first, cut the foam, then reattach the end and secure the screws. You can follow the illustrated adjustment guide on this page.

light weight and great protection for our blind best friend pet

Blind Dogs Halo

Good value for money. It came in the estimated time, my dog is a chihuahua and I thought it might be heavy for him but it's pretty light and if it helps him not crash. I think he does his job. The only detail is that it slips a little maybe because it's wearing a sweater now but I think that's settled.
